Amid the increasing number of eating options in the Santa Cruz area, Bessguide visited the Trini Cravings food truck, located on the corner of Akal Trace adjacent to Food Basket. Unassuming at first, this food truck serves up meals that will be hard to say no to after your first try. Owner Jamilia Constance runs a tight ship, ensuring that each meal receives that extra attention that makes all the difference.
The starter meal for many would be the “Hit D Spot Burger”. Overflowing with flavour, the patties are made with fresh Angus Beef to your preference; be it well done or medium rare. Placed in your choice of brioche or wheat buns, the patty is then dressed with cheese, lettuce, onions, pineapple, pickles, beef sauce, and lastly “Aunty Jam’s” special tomato salsa. The finished product is a blessing to any burger lover out there.

Even a regular order of wedges and wings has enough going for it to make you stop and take note. An appreciated deliverance from the common bland wedge, these wedges are coated in a tasty dry blend of four seasonings. The “Honey BBQ Comeback Wings”, dripping with sauce, further drives the enjoyable taste experience.

Also featuring on the taste parade is “Aunty Jam’s Steak & Cheese”. Catering to the meat mouth who might want more than just a burger, this order brings together Stroganoff steak grilled in BBQ sauce, onions, and crumbled cheese.

For those amongst us who are vegetarian or have made the leap and given up meat for Lent: fear not, Trini Cravings has you covered with their Pink Salmon Sandwich: grilled homemade salmon, topped with fresh lettuce, pineapple and that special tomato salsa. Even if you have no restrictions, the salmon burger is still a viable alternative if variety is what you desire.

Lastly, regardless of how appetizing the line-up, the experience is not complete without having a go at their freshly made juices. Ranging in flavours from sorrel, mauby, and orange/grapefruit mix.
